Common Causes of Knee Pain
Chronic knee pain is usually attributed to multiple causes or conditions and it rarely heals without professional treatment.
Some common conditions which cause chronic knee pain are:
- Osteoarthritis
- Tendinitis
- Bursitis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Chondromalacia Patella
- Gout
- Baker’s Cyst
- Dislocation
- Meniscus tear

Types of Knee Pain
When our foot strikes the ground our ankle bends. Some people, probably most, have less bending or “dorsiflexion” in our ankles than we should because of all the sitting we do.
That sitting seizes up the ankle, a little. Then as we walk; or run; or throw a ball; the ankle doesn’t bend and the knee once again is asked to bend a little more. And it’s ok doing that but one day when the knee is asked to bend a little bit more and then we have to twist at the same time, BANG!!! We have a knee injury.
The knee is one the most common joints affected by osteoarthritis in the body.
Over time with all that excessive bending in the knee we have repetitive strain. That’s just one small problem, the real problem is that the knee could find itself having to compensate like this for many, many body parts including the hips, the back, the shoulder or even the elbow.
By educating our patients on how to treat knee pain, we can actually help you prevent it in the future.
