Understanding how we think, feel and behave

Looking after our mental health is as integral to our well being as our physical health. Psychology focuses on enhancing your capacity to cope and providing support during times of specific life challenges. Engaging in therapy will help to resolve crises, reduce distress, develop goals for lasting change and improve your overall well-being.

What should I expect at my first session?
At your first session, you can discuss your concerns with your psychologist and together develop some treatment goals. Your psychologist may ask you to fill out some short questionnaires to complete a full assessment.

How many sessions will I require?
This is variable, depending on your needs and the issues you are seeking treatment for.

Can I do Telehealth?
Yes, you can! At Point Cook Physical, we offer counselling either face to face in the clinic, or via telephone or video call – the choice is yours.

Do I need a referral?
No, but to claim a Medicare rebate you will need a referral letter accompanied by a current Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or Psychiatrist. See this link for more details:
If you do not have a referral the full fee will apply.

What are the fees?
$185 – 50 minute Session
